THE GARDEN OF WONDERS - bustani ya maajabu
A tropical paradise in the south of Zanzibar
This wild garden in the south of Zanzibar has been emerging and developing for over 7 years now. We live by the principles of permaculture which has brought us together with many interesting and exciting people. There are already hundreds of incredibly interesting stories of life that the garden has produced.
Each of our comrades-in-arms tried their hand at the garden and left something beautiful behind. Many different approaches and ideas have already been tried, through which we have learned and developed.
There were many attempts from which the essence of what was important developed. It has become a place of healing, love and security.
Everyone is welcome to participate.
Whether as a creative holiday, volunteer work, project work, we are open to your ideas and wishes.

productive garden projekt
#always rising
A productive garden is the symbol of the life force of this endeavor. In addition to the beauty of the flowers and the shade of the trees, it is above all the fruits of the garden that brings independence into the Utopia "Garden of Wonders".
So far we have been able to harvest papaya, maracuja, bananas, tomatoes, pods, chili, pumpkin, lemongrass and corn. It's just water what you have to give the plants. Everything grows so fast under the sun of Zanzibar.
Kizimkazi nature reserve for birds
#in progress
To respect and protect the environment, a plot of 4500 square meters with lush bushes will be declared to be a bird sanctuary.
The surrounding land is already so heavily cleared (land cleaning) that birds are already using the property as a retreat for nesting. To prevent possible construction use, the Garden of Wonders will have the area declared a sanctuary.

Heat is energy that can be used wonderfully for everyday things. There are few on Zanzibar who have ever had a hot shower, but most of them still use wood or charcoal for their daily meals. This project shows that the sun is much more convenient to use and after construction no further costs arise ...
